Ward I: Hillary Parker Thomas

Accessible. Friendly. Tenacious. This is how Councilmember Thomas would describe her service on City Council where she currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee. She loves advocating for her neighbors and helping them connect with local issues. She also serves on the Climate Action Task Force and as Council liaison to the Sustainability Commission. Previously, she has also held the positions of Chair of the Community Development Committee and Vice-Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee. Prior to Council, she represented Ward 1 on the City’s Capital Improvement Program Committee.

Outside of Council, she works as the Development Director at a regional non-profit. She holds a Master’s degree in Education from Rockhurst University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Kansas State University. Councilmember Thomas also serves on Climate Action KC’s Board of Directors and Shawnee Mission North Patron’s Gallery Board of Directors.

In her personal life, Councilmember Thomas loves spending time with her two daughters, husband, and rescue dog. In her free time, you can find her enjoying the outdoors, reading, or eating at her favorite Mission restaurants!
