Mission Parks + Recreation has many unique programs for older adults. In Mission, we know getting and staying healthy means being both physically and mentally active. Join us for one-of-a-kind classes tailored to your interests, goals and needs.

Exercise for Life 50+

Overcome the effects of aging through personal fitness and healthy lifestyle changes. You’ll hear information on the importance of proper diet and exercise for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and preventing illness. Basic balance, weight bearing exercises and stretching techniques will be utilized in this class.

Senior Weight + Cardio Training 101

Weight and cardio training can be intimidating. We’re here to make it easy. A PCC personal trainer will show you the basics of our cardio and weight room equipment while teaching proper techniques to help you reach your goals.

Health BeneFIT

Enhance your cardio fitness, improve flexibility and reduce falls in this engaging class.

Instructor Cindy Haskell will help you regain movement, improve your overall fitness and fight the effects of aging. You’ll learn a mix of exercises utilizing hand weights, cardio movements, stretching tubes, balance exercises and a number of other techniques.

SilverSneakers Chair Yoga

Get ready to breathe your way through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Instructor Cindy Howell will guide you through a wide range of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of motion. The class will end with a stress-reducing period of restorative breathing.

Water Fitness

Aquatic Exercise

Aquatic exercises use the natural resistance of water to provide a safe, full-body workout. Instructor Shauna Utz will lead you in a class that tones and strengthens muscles, and increases cardiovascular endurance. Please bring your own aqua shoes for this class.

Enrichment + Wellness Programs


B-I-N-G-O! Join us for some fun. Refreshments served with 10 games with 10 games of bingo. Players receive two cards per game. Prizes are gift cards &/or variety gift packs. Call and let us know you are coming.

A variety of trips with others over 50. See live theater, visit different local attractions or join on an extended travel trip. We have everything planned for you. Learn more.

AARP Smart Drivers Course

Improve your driving skills and reduce your auto insurance premiums with a driver’s safety class from AARP. This class teaches mature drivers how to protect themselves from crime in parking areas, how to avoid serious accidents and how changes in vision, hearing and physical reflexes can impact driving skills.

  • There are no tests in this class.
  • Every insurance company in the state of Kansas must offer a discount to drivers who attend this course.
  • All fees go toward class materials.
    • Make checks payable to AARP.
  • Fees:
    • $30 Non-AARP member
    • $25 AARP member

Consumer Education


Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas educates the public and assists consumers on topics related to Medicare and health insurance so they can make informed decisions. Trained counselors will be on site at the PCC on Fridays for individual appointments. To schedule a free, confidential counseling session with a SHICK counselor, please call Martha Maurin at 913.286.0292.
