Planning + Zoning staff are responsible for evaluating and recommending periodic revisions to Mission’s Municipal Code, Comprehensive Plan and Design Guidelines. The plans that direct how development shapes the community’s future are listed here.
Guiding Documents
- Mission’s Comprehensive Plan outlines the City’s development goals and aspirations and serves as a guide for developing Mission as a vibrant and evolving community. Learn more about the update here.
- The Design Guidelines for the Johnson Drive Corridor provide a specific vision for Mission’s downtown business district and the surrounding area.
- The West Gateway Form Based Code provides a block-by-block vision as well as design guidelines for the development of Mission’s West Gateway Sector. Read the West Gateway Vision Plan developed in 2005.
- The East Gateway Redevelopment Plan provides guidance for land use, density and design for the area where Mission, Roeland Park, and Fairway meet.
