Tree Programs

Mission is proud to be a Tree City USA since 2002. The Parks, Recreation + Tree Commission has programs throughout the year to support Mission’s tree canopy. You can get involved in several ways.

Celebration Tree Program

Life is full of occasions to celebrate – the lives of loved ones, weddings, anniversaries, retirements, etc. The City of Mission Parks, Recreation + Tree Commission’s Celebration Tree Program offers opportunities to plant a tree in one of our parks to recognize those moments.

A donation to the City of Mission covers the cost of the tree, the installation of the tree, and the maintenance of the tree for the duration of its life. Donors will receive a certificate and a map of the tree’s location within the park. Donations are accepted in the following amounts based on the size of tree requested:

• $550 – 2” caliper tree
• $750 – 3” caliper tree
• $2,000 – 5” caliper tree

An additional donation of $300 will purchase a 9”x5” cast bronze plaque to personalize the tree in the park. Space is limited to 150 characters.

Championship Tree Program

Do you know of a spectacular tree? Nominate that tree to be a Mission Championship Tree with the nomination form. The program helps us celebrate all that trees do to benefit the health, prosperity and future of our community!

Plant a Native Tree

The City offers a 50% reimbursement for the cost of a native tree on your property through the Contain the Rain, stormwater best management practices program. Learn more here.
