Dance the Night Away With Us
Celebrate Mission’s 75th Anniversary in style. We’re throwing it back to decades past when live music would flood the streets of Mission. Join us for live music, food trucks, beer from Mission breweries, giveaways, and a kids’ activity zone sponsored by Wonder and Whoa in the heart of downtown Mission and inside The Mission Theater at Johnson Drive and Woodson on Saturday, September 26 from 5pm – 9pm.
Through the Decades Costume Contest
The city will also be hosting a “Mission Through the Decades” costume contest and encourage individuals or groups to dress in their favorite fashions from the 1950s – today, sponsored by Fiorella’s Boutique. Start planning your outfits now, the costume contest will take place at 5:45 p.m. just before the band starts playing, and prizes will be awarded in multiple categories!
Road Closure Information
Johnson Drive will be closed between Dearborn Street and Woodson Street and Woodson Street will be closed south from Johnson Drive to West 59th Terrace. The street closure is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on September 26 through midnight. The event itself is scheduled to take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The additional closure time allows crews to safely set up before the event and clean up afterward. We know this may temporarily affect navigating Johnson Drive and we appreciate your patience and flexibility.
75th Anniversary Window Decorating Contest
Help celebrate Mission’s 75th Anniversary by decorating your business windows with a festive display that showcases your community spirit! Encourage our local businesses throughout Mission to participate in this free contest leading up to the Mission Street Dance on September 26. Complete the interest form by Friday, August 28 to reserve your spot. Participating businesses will be featured in City promotions, and the public will vote online for their favorite display. Every participating business will receive a commemorative Mission 75th Anniversary window cling, recognition on City social media, and a feature in the December issue of Mission Magazine. First-, second-, and third-place winners will also receive special recognition and cash prizes. We can’t wait to see Mission businesses help bring our 75th Anniversary celebration to life with creative and colorful displays!
