Mission Updates Rebate Program to Assist More Residents
March 26, 2024

The Mission City Council recently approved updates to the city’s long-running Community Rebate Program in order to provide financial relief to a larger number of qualifying households. The rebate program offers rebates on city property taxes, utility franchise fees, and other charges for homeowners with low-to-moderate incomes.

Key Changes for 2024:

Income Eligibility Expanded to 65% of Area Median Income: Previously capped at 50% of AMI, this increase means more families will qualify based on their household size and income level.
Income Requirements:

Household Size Maximum Total Household Income

  1.  $46,600
  2.  $53,300
  3.  $59,950
  4.  $66,600
  5.  $71,950
  6.  $77,250
  7.  $82,600
  8.  $87,900

50% Rebate on Storm Water Utility Fee: In addition to rebates on property taxes and solid waste fees (50%), households will now receive a 50% rebate on the city’s storm water utility fee. With the expanded eligibility and added utility fee rebate, many households will see significantly higher rebate amounts compared to previous years. The city has budgeted $25,000 for the expanded program.

Homeowners can apply for the 2024 Community Rebate Program by filling out the application form on the city’s webpage here. Applications will open on a first-come, first-served basis in 2024. For questions, please contact City Hall at 913-676-8360.

This enhancement to the Community Rebate Program aligns with the city’s goals of promoting housing affordability and ensuring Mission remains an inclusive community for all income levels.
