Mission Businesses Supported by City Grant Program
December 16, 2022

2022 Business Improvement Grant (B.I.G.) program has had another successful year.

B.I.G. supports local businesses through funding for various exterior and interior improvements, including energy efficiency upgrades, and allows applicants to be reimbursed up to 50% of approved costs up to $10,000 per project annually.

One participant, Family Features Editorial Syndicate, Inc., received funding for exterior painting, exterior signage and parking lot improvements and received nearly the full amount of reimbursement. Family Features is located just north of Johnson Dr. & Dearborn St. in the city’s downtown and was founded in the early 70’s but has called Mission home since 2002. Family Features is a pioneer in delivering food, lifestyle and home & garden branded content directly to consumers through variety of marketing platforms.

When asking Family Features, President & CFO, Michael French what made them want to participate in the B.I.G. program and continue to invest in Mission, he stated, “We needed to revitalize and maintain our offices for the future and loved Mission’s central location as a business!”

Participants in 2022:

  • Family Features – Exterior Painting, Exterior Signage, & Parking Lot Improvements
  • Sisney Properties – Window Replacement & Repair
  • Mirabella Beauty – Facade & Exterior Maintenance and Repairs, Exterior Painting

The Total Reimbursement for all projects this year was $24,603

Funds will be available for new projects in 2023. If you have questions about project ideas, contact Nilo Fanska, Community Development Coordinator, nfanska@missionks.org or 913.676.8358. To learn more about B.I.G. please visit: http://bit.ly/3TMLhY7
