GHG Inventory Community Presentation

May 18, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The numbers are in! The City of Mission has just completed an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions created by the City’s operations and created by the community as a whole. Mission last completed an inventory in 2008. Using 2022 data, we’ve measured everything from energy used in City-owned buildings, to how much trash is generated from Mission residents, to how average commuting patterns contribute to our carbon footprint.

Come hear the results! We’ll discuss it all, including:

  • Why do we measure emissions?
  • How do we get the data?
  • What has changed since the last inventory?
  • What still remains to be done?
  • How are utility and technology changes impacting Mission’s emissions?
  • Where do we go from here?

Rachel Meier, Senior Associate with Lotus Engineering and Sustainability will present the findings. You’re invited to listen and ask questions about what the inventories tell us. Even if you do not live or work in Mission, the results may likely match what is true in your community. All are welcome!

The event is free and will be Thursday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Powell Community Center at 6200 Martway Street. R.S.V.P. so we are prepared with enough seating. Either by replying to the event on Facebook or emailing erandel@missionks.org
