Comprehensive Plan Open House

The first draft of Mission’s Comprehensive Plan vision for the future of our community is ready for your review! Come talk with staff, the consultant team and members of the Steering Committee at an open house at Powell Community Center Tuesday, November 16 at 4-7 p.m.
Mission’s Comprehensive Plan guides development into the future. It is a vision plan, a communication tool and a guidebook for a community’s shared goals. Kansas statutes require cities to develop a comprehensive plan for development within their boundaries, and to make regular updates to the plan. An update is underway now.
A plan evaluates issues of:
- Land use
- Population and building intensity
- Public facilities
- Transportation
- Economic conditions
- Natural resources and more.
The project website offers a project map where residents, business owners and visitors have shared ideas about improving the community, there are preference surveys, and video recordings of the past meetings of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee are available on the site to view.
