Storm Debris Removal: Curbside Limb Collection Update

Posted on Sunday February 17, 2019

Curbside limb pick-up scheduled to resume Monday, February 18.

Curbside limb pick-up in Mission is planned to resume Monday, February 18. The crews did not collect on Friday due to heavy snow. Though no completion date can be confirmed at this time, if the current weather forecast holds, the City believes most, if not all, the limbs will be collected in the next two days, weahter permitting.
Curbside Limb Stack PhotoLimb Pick-Up:
Residents should move any large limbs to the curb for collection.

  • Limbs should be placed parallel to the street, and must not block driveways or sidewalks, fire hydrants or utility boxes or overhead lines.
  • Place stacks away from any parked cars, on both sides of the street.
  • There is not a limit on limb size, but please stack bundles as highly/tightly as possible. If the grapple hook can collect all the limbs at a residence in one pass, it will expedite citywide collection and minimize costs.
  • Limbs should be in place by January 28, 2019. The City reserves the right to adjust the date of the start of collection depending on additional inclement weather and contractor availability. Updated information will be available at missionks.org and through the City's social media channels. The work will likely take a week or more to complete.

Smaller Yard Waste Set-Outs:
Effective Immediately: Waste Management has lifted the limit of yard waste set-outs to aid in clean-up. Residents may now set out as many bags or bundles as needed through the end of February. These set outs will be collected on your normal trash day.

  • Yard waste may be placed in biodegradable paper bags.
  • Bundles of limbs may be no more than 4 feet long and 18 inches in diameter. Items cannot weigh more than 65 pounds.
  • Individual limbs must be no larger than 1.5 inches in diameter.

Neighbor Assistance:
Please contact the City at 913-676-8368 or erandel@missionks.org if you are physically unable to move limbs to the curb, or if you are willing to help neighbors move their limbs. Volunteers can also sign up online. We will attempt to pair volunteers with those needing assistance. Please share this information with your neighbors and networks to make sure the word gets out. Thank you.
