September is National Suicide Prevention Month.

The City of Mission recognizes the need for awareness about the issue of suicide and suicide prevention. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a resource for these issues online. The phone number 1-800-273-TALK (8255) is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for those in suicidal crisis or emotional distress.

The website #BeThe1To has information about the five action steps for communicating with someone who may be suicidal. The steps are:
Ask.
Keep them safe.
Be there.
Help them connect.
Follow up.
