The City is actively planning for the next generation of parks investment in Mission. Outdoor spaces and opportunities for recreation are a key component to quality of life for our residents. Improvements to our parks is a priority of the City Council and a majority of residents as shown by the 2021 DirectionFinder® survey. The Parks + Recreation Master Plan, published in 2016, laid out priorities for our parks, but the next step was to develop conceptual designs for the improvements. That work has been underway for four of the City’s five major parks: Mohawk, Broadmoor, Waterworks, and Streamway. Conceptual design work is an important part of the overall planning process, allowing the City to be more effective and efficient in:
- Developing general estimates of costs for future park improvements
- Identifying potential maintenance, replacement, or repair costs for improvements
- Evaluating the potential for phasing larger scale improvements
- Pursuing grant funding or partnership opportunities
The plans for each park were developed by small stakeholder groups and have been presented individually at various times throughout the last 18 months. We are now excited to have the opportunity to share a more complete picture of the vision for Mission’s outdoor park system.
Please join us for an open house:

See the current renderings for each park based on previous public input and add your feedback.
The meeting will be structured in an open house format with members of City staff and representatives from the design team available to review the drawings, answer questions and take additional feedback.
