Ward II: Mary Ryherd

Councilmember Ryherd was appointed to the Mission City Council in January of 2022. She also currently serves as the Chair for the Finance & Administration Committee. For over two years, she served on the Parks, Recreation and Tree Commission and Broadmoor Park Stakeholder Steering Committee. She is excited to continue working with the Parks, Recreation and Tree Commission as Council Liaison. Mary grew up in Leawood, KS and has lived in the Kansas City area her entire life.

Professionally, Mary works for Cox Automotive, a business located in Mission, designing websites for car dealerships. Previously to this, she worked in the regulatory affairs pharmaceutical industry for five years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Kansas.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Lee, dog Elaine, and cat Boca, is an avid baker and cook, and is regularly daydreaming about her next international trip. She enjoys hiking, fly fishing, photography, and practicing speaking Spanish.

Mary is elated to be representing the Ward II constituents, and is always ready to dive into the needs of her ward.
