As a former teacher, Councilmember Hillary Parker Thomas believes in the power of education. Elected in November of 2017, Councilmember Thomas is thrilled to help Mission residents connect with local issues. Prior to serving on the Council, she represented Ward 1 on the city's Capital Improvement Program Committee.

Outside of the Council, she works as the Director of Development at a local nonprofit, The Don Bosco Centers. She has taught Civics & ESL in public, private, and higher education and worked at our Kansas State Legislature. She holds a Master's degree in Education from Rockhurst University and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Kansas State University. Councilmember Thomas also serves on the Alzheimer Association's Longest Day Committee and regularly volunteers at the Mission Market.

Personally, Councilmember Thomas loves spending time with her two year-old daughter, husband, and rescue dogs.  In her free time, you can find her enjoying the outdoors, reading, or eating at her favorite Mission restaurants!
