Ward IV Councilmember Suzanne 'Suzie' Gibbs

Councilmember Suzie Gibbs has served on the Mission City Council for 22 years. Councilmember Gibbs is Vice Chair of the Community Development Committee and Chair of the Mission Arts Council, and she serves on the Shawnee Mission North High School and Rushton and Santa Fe Elementary School Site Councils. She has formerly served on the Ordinance Committee, Parks and Recreation Committee, and Public Works Committee.
Living in Mission since 1967, with the exception of six retirement years at Lake of the Ozarks, Councilmember Gibbs has held various positions in the community. She was Mission City Clerk (6 years), Executive Director of the Mission Area Chamber of Commerce, chairperson for Mission's 50th Anniversary Celebration, chair of the Northeast Johnson County American Cancer Society Relay for Life, co-owner of the Younger Set, a member of Shawnee Mission School District's Committee for Excellence, and President of the Milhaven Homes Association.
Councilmember Gibbs recently completed her Bachelor's degree in Management from the University of Ottawa. In Councilmember Gibbs' spare time, she and her husband Jack enjoy visiting children and grandchildren in Oklahoma and Kentucky.
