Boards and Commissions
Mission has a number of volunteer boards and commissions that advise the City Council and city staff on various topics. The Mayor may also, from time to time, convene task forces to study specific issues affecting Mission. If you are interested in serving on a board, commission, or to be considered for a future task force, please direct a resume and letter of interest to Mayor Steve Schowengerdt.

Mission's Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals is charged with guiding the future land use of the City by preparing the City’s Comprehensive Plan and by reviewing proposed rezonings, plans for development, and permits. As the Board of Zoning Appeals, it hears appeals and consider granting variances to the City’s zoning code.

Mission's Sustainability Commission advises the City Council on policies pertaining to sustainable growth and development in Mission.

The Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau is responsible for promoting commerce and attracting
visitors to Mission; supporting the revitalization and redevelopment of the Mission business district; and programming and promoting special City events.

Mission's Parks and Recreation Commission helps plan and guide the activities of the City's Parks and Recreation Department.

Mission's Tree Board promotes the beautification of the city through the planting, care, and removal of trees, shrubs, and other plantings upon City property.
