 RESIDENTIAL TREE-TRIMMING GRANT PROGRAM

The Residential Tree Trimming Grant Program was developed by the Mission Tree Board in 2008 to offer financial assistance to eligible homeowners.  Qualified applicants may receive assistance with trimming or removal of damaged, diseased, or dead trees on residential property that pose a risk to structures or human safety.  Financial assistance up to $1,000.00 may be provided to qualified owner-occupied properties needing assistance.  Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis once all required documents are received. The qualified work will be determined by Neighborhood Services Staff. 

 Eligibility Requirements

1.

 Your home must be located within the city limits of Mission, Kansas.

2.

 You must have owned and occupied your home for atleast one year prior to application.

3.

 Your property taxes must be current.

4.

 You may only receive assistance through this program once every three years.

5.

 Your annual income cannot exceed the HUD guidelines as follows:

Reapplication                         
Qualified residents approved for funding may reapply after a3 year waiting period following the original date of application.

How to Apply
1. Complete the application.
2. Return the signed application and all requesteddocuments to the City of Mission Neighborhood Services Department via mail, fax, or in person. 
3. A member of the NeighborhoodServices Department will contact you to schedule a visit to your home toclarify the nature of your request.
4. Staff will evaluate your application and notify you viamail of its status within 2 weeks of receipt. If accepted, a list of approved tree service companies will be providedto you for obtaining bids to perform the requested work.
5. Applicants shall contact and chose a vendor of theirchoice from the approved list of tree companies.  The city’s paid participation with the vendor shall not exceed $1000.00 of the lowest bid received. All amounts in excess of $1000.00 are the responsibility of the homeowner and shall be paid directly to the vendor. The tree vendor shall submit their invoice to the city for payment. The city will only pay the amount agreed upon in the work order issued to the tree company.

Applicants are required to submit: 
A copy oftheir most recent Federal Tax Return for all adults living in the household, or other proof of income acceptable to the City of Mission.  
Applicants must provide proof of current homeowner’s liability insurance.  
Applicants must provide copies of all bids for services.
